For the first time ever (I think) the kids and I were at the build site 2 days in a row! We live in West Des Moines which is about half and hour from the land so going there everyday isn’t always an option. Lendlee still needs an afternoon nap… blah blah blah #momlife!
I will say getting out there a couple of times made me even more excited for the finished product! The land is so beautiful and peaceful I think we are going to love living there. The kids really come alive when they’re able to run around, play in the dirt, and see dad a little more.
So far things may have been a little “boring” to watch. It’s been prep work, foundation work, land clearing… all of the things that come BEFORE you can actually start building. You can buy land that is “ready” but you’re going to pay for it! Someone at some point has to do the work of preparing it for a house with the grading, clearing, etc.
Now that we have things like that finished its time to build! You’ll be seeing the kids and I there a ton more once the exterior structure is up. I haven’t been very involved in the building process with our other projects because our kids have been so little, but I am determined to play a bigger role. I am geared up to help with framing, setting windows, painting- you name it I am willing to try!
Stop back next week for our weekly report on the build, and if you want to learn more of the technical side of building you can find great videos on our You Tube channel, Marshall Remodel.
