At first this build seemed like it was the same old thing for weeks and weeks!
Now things are changing and moving forward quickly! Paul is literally doing all of the work by himself. His dad is coming to town when he can which is a TREMENDOUS help and blessing. Those days there is definitely the most progress made.
I say that so you’re not wondering why things don’t come together super fast like they would if we had an entire crew! We absolutely will be forming a team to work with us in the future, but right now it’s just Paul and I handling things.
What you see is the exterior framing for the house, and the garage will go next to that. It’s a post frame build meaning the posts carry all of the weight of the structure, so all of the exterior plus roof needs to go up before the interior framing can go in.
All of the materials so far come from Menards (midwest home improvement store). They have someone who helps design buildings and puts together a materials list. We had to do our own plans, but they double checked everything and made sure we had the right supplies.
The roof color is called Midnight Gray, and I think it’s going to look amazing with the sides and other accents. I debated a light or dark roof for a long time, but I’m glad I did the dark. Since we aren’t planning on leaving this house I’m trying to make choices I think I can live with for decades!
Don’t forget to check out our You Tube channel to see this project in action. Paul does all of the filming himself too… he’s a busy guy!
Thank you for letting us share this part of our story with you!
